Your Questions Answered: Essential FAQs on Alzheimer's Puzzles

What are Springbok Alzheimer’s 'Puzzles to Remember' puzzles?
These puzzles are part of the “Puzzles to Remember” series—a collaboration between Springbok and Alzheimer’s researcher Max Wallack—designed specifically for individuals with Alzheimer’s or memory loss. They feature large, easy-to-handle pieces (typically 36, 60, or 100 pieces), nostalgic and visually engaging adult-themed imagery, and a therapeutic design that blends cognitive exercise with a sense of accomplishment.
What makes these puzzles beneficial for people with Alzheimer’s?
These puzzles are crafted to support motor skills, spatial reasoning, and cognitive engagement. The oversized pieces are easier to grip and manipulate, while the familiar, nostalgic images stimulate memory and foster focus. Completing the puzzle also delivers a positive sense of achievement and encourages moments of social connection.
How can puzzles help with cognitive health?
Research suggests that engaging in mentally stimulating activities like jigsaw puzzles may delay symptoms of dementia or Alzheimer’s. They promote cognitive resilience by activating multiple brain areas and can help preserve existing neural pathways. While puzzles don't prevent dementia entirely, regular cognitive workouts are strongly linked with a slower decline.
Who are Alzheimer’s Therapy Puzzles best suited for?
These puzzles are ideal for people experiencing memory challenges or early-stage Alzheimer’s or dementia, as well as for caregivers and loved ones. They offer a soothing, screen-free activity that supports both cognitive function and emotional well-being.
Are these puzzles also good for caregivers or social engagement?
Absolutely. Working on these puzzles can create a meaningful bonding opportunity—facilitating conversation, reducing isolation, and offering a shared experience between caregivers and loved ones.
Why are nostalgic images chosen for this puzzle line?
Nostalgic imagery—such as familiar barns, chapels, gardens, and animals—is intentionally selected because it helps trigger long-term memories that remain more intact than recent ones in people with dementia. These comforting, recognizable themes evoke positive emotions, encourage conversation, and foster a sense of connection to the past, making the puzzling experience both therapeutic and joyful.

I purchased this puzzle for my Dad who has dementia. I left it with him on Monday and the next day I stopped in and he had finished it.He said that the pieces were big. I asked him how long it took him to do the puzzle and he said 30 - 35 minutes. I was pleasantly surprised. This may encourage him to help my Mom put together the 500 piece puzzles. Pieces fit together very good.

This puzzle was a joy to assemble! It was difficult in spots, but the colors and image were so beautiful. I've been a Springbok fan for 35+ years and your quality is unmatched by "lesser" brand puzzles.
